The cottage was originally built in the early 20's by waterfowlers from the US who recognized the unspoiled natural beauty of this area of the Bay.
The current owners completely renovated the structure while retaining all the character & ambiance of a bygone era. The renovation retained the original floor plate, the classic Georgian Bay sloped hip roof line, and a screened front veranda, but opened up the interior space to create a flowing open plan great room. Finished in rough pine tongue & groove the interior is warm and inviting. A floor to ceiling granite fireplace acts as focal point to the living area. Expansive windows on three sides of the great room expose lovely water views and flood the room with light at all hours of the day. A dramatic vaulted ceiling over the dining area enhances the sense of interior space.
The 160 sq. ft. kitchen has a walk in pantry, generous counter and storage space and above counter windows with stunning views to the water.
The 170 sq. ft. Master Suite is situated at the south side of the cottage and features a walk out to a deck, and 2 piece en suite. Two guest rooms at the north side of the cottage share a 3 piece bath.
Decking encircles the cottage and every room opens to the outdoors.
Sliding glass doors in the living area lead to a covered porch, which steps down to a series of generously sized surrounding decks designed for lounging, al fresco dining and sunning. A gas barbecue and bar fridge are close by, just outside the kitchen.
A quiet south facing screened porch/front entrance overlooks the harbour.
The former boat house at the west side of the island has been converted to guest quarters; a 380 sq. ft. bed/sitting room with 2 piece bath. A cozy bunkhouse (80sq. ft.) shares a deck and the W/C access in the main guest cabin.
The entire island is beautifully accessible, the smooth flat rock linking the cottages, the decks and the two harbours.
An original stone barbecue and fire pit are located close to the west harbour, a favourite spot in the evening for sunset views.
This is a gem of an island property, the cottages classic and comfortable, with swimming, sailing, kayaking and canoeing in crystal clear waters from every point on the island. At just under an acre it is easy to maintain and manage.
Easily accessed via Pointe au Baril Station it is a mere 4 minutes by boat to the storied Ojibway Club and Community Centre which offers a children's camp, tennis, fitness classes, various clubs' headquarters, a marina, convenience store and fine dining several nights of the week.
