This mangrove island paradise will welcome you with an authentic Bocas del Toro experience which includes countless possibilities to enjoy. Not only will you have the opportunity to share your visit with our other guests, but also 12 monkeys who live the island.
Features
Set out at sea, there only wooden paths connecting our 5 bungalows surrounded by crystal clear waters. Guests are able to swim and snorkel in all areas around the island. Snorkeling gear is provided for you. There are also two cayucos available for use so that you can kayak around the island and experience how the locals get around on a daily basis.
At night you can experience a view of the bio-luminescent waters which is a unique and magical experience. All areas around the island are safe to swim and you are able to see many different types of fish, coral and starfish while swimming in the crystal clear waters.
There are multiple lounging areas to relax or sunbathe including 2 separate docks on the water. There is also a private area on the second floor of the main dining/lounge area where you are able to enjoy a nice breeze in one of the four hammocks with a great view of the nearby islands within view.
The Islands are protected by coral reef and are surrounded by turquoise and bio-luminescent ocean waters. The area presents diverse marine life and marine vegetation while offering breathtaking views of Cayo Zapatillas, a much appreciated site by nature lovers.
Solar panels provide all our energy needs, which is an added benefit for the environment and the ecosystem. Electrical equipment should be used sparingly and during the day.
All meals and beverages can be provided by request at any time. Francine, the French Canadian owner, built Urraca Private Island with a love for nature. She wishes to share this passion for the environment and the monkeys with all who come to visit here. She also wishes to give back to the land and the native Ngobe by providing jobs for them and letting them be a part of her dream. Her dream is to live a simple life with nothing other than her monkeys, a plate of fresh lobster and a cold glass of rum.
