10 minutes to the Ojibway Club, 20 minutes to Pointe Au Baril Station and Hwy 69.

Summer sunsets are over other islands 2 miles away. Looking the other way after dark reveals 3 cell phone towers. We get great reception.

8+ dividable acres of Lichen covered pre Cambrian granite with veins of quartz, tall trees, and dense bushes. A couple from Ohio with a daughter and local help built 3 small lightly framed wood cottages around 1950.

The largest, 18' x 24' had to be jacked higher when the water unexpectedly rose though the floor. You cannot build this close to the water today. There is a little beach shaded by the front deck. We made it much bigger around 1970 and added another sleeping cabin at the waters edge.

Big fireplace, big sunset windows, big closets, big deck. Mom filled it with durable antiques. The German silver kitchen sink is circa 1880. Summer 1990 she modernized the still underused septic system.

I replaced all the roofs and some siding recently. Come visit this summer and see what I do with the back deck and bridge. Maybe I'll let you use the canoes. Maybe I'll let you fish. Maybe I'll let you stay.

About the Area: Point au Baril

The channels and islands of the region make it a boating, fishing and islander paradise. It has also become a destination for snowmobiling in the winter months.

Amongst the many islands there is the historic Ojibway Club resort. Today the Ojibway is the centre of summer activity in the Pointe au Baril Island community for both children and adults. A full-service destination for cottagers and boaters alike, the Ojibway offers a restaurant, grocery store, gift shop and gas docks services for all who visit.

The population in Point au Baril grows from a winter low of about 250 to 300 to a summer high of 8000 or more. Additional growth is expected in the future as Highway 400 is extended past the community.

There are many community events in Pointe au Baril including the Winter Whirl carnival held the first weekend in February, The Canada Day feastivities and Pickerel Dinner and The Annual Lobster Fest held the third weekend in July.

Pointe au Baril has a community centre with a library in it. The town also offers an ice rink and playground. Pointe au Baril also has a Nursing Station and an Emergency response team.
Pointe au Baril's cottage community is largely water access and is home to many marinas.
